Dust and Vibration

Hey, in regards to the permatex thing. I have a lot of dust in my case ( a dusty area I cant avoid) and my computer case is kinda crappy (it vibrates against pannels) would you guys suggest using the permatex to both stop the vibration and prevent the dust? As well, what is the Manufacturers number on the Permatex or does any gasket seal work?

I would put filters on the fans and make sure you have positve air pressure. If you want to use a dab of Permatex to cut the rattles, use the blue stuff. It dries in two hours.

If you have negative air pressure in your case, and start permatexing most cracks, I would worry about drawing air through your CD-RW, CD-ROM, zip, floppy, etc. You have already stated that dust within you case is a concern, so I gather that you case is in a dusty environment. Air and dust will end up being drawn through the above mentioned components, I see it all the time!

For filters you could use a used dryer sheet. I think it does block airflow a little 'cause my temps went up a few degrees when I put one over my fan, but if temp. isn't a prob. for you... I've also heard of using a chunk of furnace filter material.

For a quick sealant of case holes (my case sides had perforations) just use masking tape. In my case only one set of the 4 side perforations are left open and are used for exhaust (there is mucho positive air pressure)
