Durons arent multiplier locked!

Now i know that amd sent tom info saying that retail cpu's will be locked, but according to this guy they dont seem to be locked http://www.bigfootcomputers.com

Hes selling a duron 600 pretested to 900 for 165 canadian bucks, so thats like 110 usd 🙂 Catch is that you have to get the msi-6330 kt133 board to make it work(no idea why though).

I was almost ready to buy a celly2 from him but decided to wait till the duron shows up, now that it has ill prolly get one 😀
 
They ARE multiplier locked, why else would you need a msi 6330.

try throwing this on a regular motherboard.. won't overclock
 
I know that many mobos will have dip switches to change the multiplier, but toms last blurb said this... "Thunderbird and Duron processors will have their multipliers LOCKED, which means that even an A7V with the dipswitches is not going to help."

I guess tom was wrong eh? 🙂
 
I got an email from the owner of bigfootcomputers.com

"The Cpus are multiplier locked, they can currently be altered through the BIOS of the motherboard. AMD is rumoured to be changing this ability in their next fab update but it works for now."

I guess i better buy it asap 🙂
