Wondering if anyone can help me with this problem. I have a duron 600 running at 950 on an epox 8kta2 motherboard. It locks quite often whenever I'm using a web browser (opera, netscape, IE). The screen is locked but I can still move my mouse around. The numlock and caplock buttons don't respond but I can ctrl-alt-del to reboot if I press this key combo enough. Funny thing is, when I test for stablity with more processor intensive task, it works fine. I set up quake3 with 6+ bots in spectator mode with a limit of 999 frags with prime95 and cpu stablity test in the background and it doesn't crash. Any ideas?

Thanks.

You might want to run file checker to see if your browser has corrupted a file. Know it sounds crazy, but it happened to my wifes computer.

Thanks for the post, but I don't think that's it. It happens in more than one browser. Opera and IE. Unless they share common files.

Download Via's "4in1" driver and then install everything again.. Make sure you install the AGP VxD driver in "standard mode" instead of "turbo mode".. Also, if you have AGP 4X turned on, you might try switching that back to 2X.

Seems to be stable now. Don't really know the exact reason, I tried SO many different fixes.
Reinstalled via 4.25 drivers including busmaster (was using 4.26). After uninstalling all drivers first
Moved Soundblaster Live card over so it no longer shares an irq.
Reapplied all win98 critical and sugguested patches
Turned off mouse smoothing in IE
Toned down memory settings.
Using agp2x and no fastwrites
Thanks everyone for your suggestions
