I was just reading an article that said the 1.3GHz duron has some additional stuff like SSE instruction set and what not, and I can't seem to remember if this started with th 1Ghz chip or at 1.1Ghz.

Anyone know for sure?

Also, these are 200Mhz fsb CPU's right? How much luck are folks having (particularly with the 1 Ghz model) running the fsb @ 266?

Thanks..much appreciated

the first was 1.1 GHz Duron, Morgan core released on 2nd October 2001. Net would be the Appaloosa core Duron, expected to start at 1.5 or 1.6 GHz!

I have my Duron 1ghz ( which is the Morgan core ) running at 8x145, so 133 fsb will not be a problem if you lower the multiplier.

The new Durons started with 1ghz.

Um, no. The first was the 1Ghz Duron.

And most people have no problem just lowering and multiplier and raising the FSB to get 133 or better.

For non-overclocking system. Is the Duron with the new instruction set (Morgan core), better then a T-Bird Athlon, which has a bigger cache, but does not have the new instruction set? And, what type of software would best be served by the new instruction set?

from what I read (the 1.3Ghz duron review) it said there are few programs that actually utilize the SSE instruction set. how true it is I don't know. They also compared the 3 durons to an Athlon 1.2Ghz
