Duron or T-Bird?

I am building a new machine that will primarily be used for Internet, MS Office, and DVD playback. I have already purchased a MSI KT7 Pro 2A, 128 PC133 RAM, Quantum ATA 100 drive, Radeon 32 DDR, and a SB Live. I managed to find all of those for very good deals. Since I am trying to keep cost low, would it be worth buying a T-Bird 900 for $150, or will a Duron 800 for $103 be enough power. Keep in mind that I am not much of a gamer.

This depends on how much money you have. The only CPU intensive task you listed is DVD playback, and since the Radeon has hardware decoding, this is not an issue. The Duron 800 will be acceptable. If money is a premium, go Duron. (My Duron @1016 plays software DVD flawlessly, so yours should, too.)

oops i should read the whole post. Since money is a concern get the duron. That thing will most likly oc to 1ghz anyways

if you are going to buy a Duron 800 for $103 bucks, you can get a T-bird 850 for about the same. Check Anands' CPU/video price guide.

edit: is that 103 shipped? You can also check Pricewatch.

I'm with the others who recommend the Athlon850. More processor and its only gonna cost and extra 10 -20 bucks over Duron if that much...
