Ive been searching all over the net for some time now and havent found anything conclusive as to what chipsets this thing will run on.

Ive read the press release that says that it is designed to run on "outdated" motherboards and im wondering if that includes the KT133A, specifically the IWILL KK266. I know this thing is based on a Tbred core but I also realize its aimed at poor 3rd world countries and such so im wondering if its been made backwords compatible.

I need a new CPU in this aging beast to tide me over for a few months. Id really like to have this sucker if it would run, I know I could try a palomino in this thing but its a 50/50 chance of working and id rather not take that gamble. And id rather not get something as boring as a tbird 1.4 ;)

So if there is anyone out there who knows anything or perhaps has one along with an old 133a motherboard and could try it I would be mucho appreciative.

it just might support 133fsb but as far as what they meant I think they mean they are compatible with socket 462 motherboards

it would be nice to see them run on 166 or 200 fsb motherboards, if not by default atleast overclocked
but yeah if these cpu's are socket 462 then they should work on the kt133a and many other chipsets

BTW, Newegg is listing the 1.6GHz Duron now. In AthlonXP's, 1.6GHz would be the 1900+, so I'm guessing this comes in somwhere in the area of a 1700+, but that's just a speculation. It's... lessee here, $43 OEM.

It'll work, but why get the Duron when you can buy an XP 2000+ for $60 or a 2400+ for $76?

Yeah I saw those at newegg, thats the main reason I got so curious.

The reason im not gonna try an XP is because this IWILL board does not really support XP's. There are lots of reports of them WORKING to various degrees of success, but only with palaminos and usually only 1500+ - 1700+'s and then its only about 50/50 success rate.

I thank you all for your info, if you think of anything else let me know ;)
