I am considering building AMD system:Q How quick are these things getting the job done? Five hours maybe?
Don't want to spend for T-Bird. Spent too much on Intel already so I want to keep it cheap.

my tbird at 105*11=1155 cas2-2-2 ram does a wu in about 4 hours. i think the furon is only a little slower since the new version of seti isn't as cache dependent as the older versions.

Just got my Duron 600@900 on line with a abit kt7 motherboard. First wu so far is 40% done @ 2 hours.
64 megs ram, v2.7 This is a first wu on this box so
i dont have an average yet. 69.00 dollars for unlocked
duron-129.00 for motherboard.

Thanks guys, lane42-would be great if you could post again when you get a good avg. Btw. let me know what version you're running. I'm on 3.0 CLI.

With the 2.04 CLI client, I get about 8.5 to 9 hours on a Duron at 700MHz with RAM at 2-2-2.

Yes, 2.04 is a killer on durons.you will shave some time off with 3.0 or 3.1 when it comes out.
Phiton, the little duron is at about 5 hours 15 min. a wu.
Thats with version 2.7. I guess about 6 hours or so with v3
but thats with 64megs ram and a pretty old hard drive i had laying around, slowwww. I dont know if hard drive speed
plays a factor in wu times, but for the price you cant beat a duron 🙂

I'd like to get the v.3 client, anyone have it where I can DL it?

edit: thanks OrangeKid and NT4Mike! Got it. : )

Is the GUI or CLI version recommended? I can't seem to find the X86 CLI version.

My current plan is RC5 with 463 client in the day and OGR with 464 client at night. Dunno where to squeeze Seti. hehe

Thanks for the info folks, don't know yet if I will build another machine. But if I do, will probably go for the Duron. Five hours with a seventy dollar processor is hard to beat. 🙂
