Yes, it means that your system is not stable enough to run Prime95. It is a common thing, and the best way to be satisfied with your system stability is to be able to run everything that you want to run without crashing. Can you loop 3DMark2000 and the Q3A demo? Does all of your Apps run well? Can you play all of the games that you have without problems? If you can, it is stable enough IMHO :)

You might not be giving the CPU enough voltage. My 600MHz runs at 1GHz with 1.75v, but it's not stable unless I'm using 1.825v or 1.85v.

The voltage reported by the hardware monitor is the correct one. Bug with the KT133 chipset. It shouldn't be a real issue though. In fact, I don't mind having 1.92v at all.

"Prime" is not a diagnostic or a stability test utility. It IS a very CPU intensive application which will often fail to run correctly if there is instability in a system. Since it taxes the CPU and Memory system heavily when running people have take to using it as an indicator of stability. Several other application programs have been found to give parts of systems a work-out and are often used to give an idea of how stable a system is. Other programs include Seti@Home, Quake benchmark, UT benchmark, etc. None of these was intended as a stability test program but if they run successfully it's usually a pretty guess that the system is reasonably stable.

run cpu stability ...
if you can't run prime than it's really unstable...
lower the multiplier

my friend and I both bought 700 durons for our new msi K7Tpro2-As and neither of us can even get close to 1ghz.

I can only hit 850 without prime95 reporting errors. I'm pretty dissappointed.

My system can't run Prime95. Is it 'really unstable?' No, it it unstable period? No. Is Prime95 a good test of system stability? Sort of. If you can get Prime95 to run, that's great, if it can't, try testing with stuff you do every day, like games you play. Play a game for a few hours and if it crashes then you'll know your system is unstable.ü
