Duron 1Ghz operating temperature

I've just installed a Duron 1Ghz in the computer of a friend to upgrade from a 650mhz cpu.
The mobo is a Gigabyte 7ZX, and it shows in the bios 48-49C idle and 52-54 under heavy load. Is it ok? The fan is a 4500rpm one btw.

Damn, my Athlon at 1200 at idle is around 39-40c...

Try reseating your hs/f and reapplying thermal grease. 😀

Here are the MBM 5 readings:
Mobo 22C
PSU 36C
CPU 48C

The HSF is the one that came with the cpu. 4560rpm fan...

My temps using mbm5 are around 43-45c idle up to 50 load, but the comp is in a wood cabinet (poor airflow, need to mod the computer desk to exhaust hot air). In with good, out with the bad.

I'm using a 80mm panaflo L1A modded onto some cheap 60 x 60mm coolermaster hs with cheap thermal goo.

With standard HSF your operating temp seems normal for me.
I built many Duron systems with cheapo small CoolerMaster HSF and the temp are around that mark.

Ok, I left prime95 to run all night and now the temperature was 55C.
I think it's really bad only if it gets past 60C right?

my 1.2 duron with a volcano 6cu+ ran about 44-46 under 100% cpu usage. Now with a SVC gc68, that has been lapped and using Artic Alumina, I'm running at 39-41 under full load.

Both of these are withouth the cover on my comp. The 6cu+ was too loud to run without the cover most of the time, that's why I got the gc68. better cooling and much much quieter.
