I am going to be overclocking my Duron 700 very soon now. I have a KT7 so I can just mess with the multiplier and FSB settings in BIOS. Well, I got my 700 all the way up to 1155mhz(11.0 x 105) and I might be able to get it higher.
This is REALLY good. But I only ran it that fast long enough to go into the BIOS, check the temp, and then change it back down to 700. The temp did raise from like 40C up to 45C in a pretty short amount of time. So my question is, are the speeds that you can POST at, usually acceptable in Windows? What is the highest you guys have gotten it to post at?
That would be a whole lotta cool if I could o/c it to 1100 or higher.
Things I tried:
POSTed at 11x100.
no POST at 11.5x100 (not enough juice)
While having the multiplier to 7.0, I got the FSB up to 115mhz.
-and that's with generic PC100 RAM.
at 120mhz FSB it gave me a "ROM CHECKSUM ERROR"
Tried 11x105 and it worked
Tried 11x110 no POST (not enough juice again)
I might try something in between (ie. 107)
