Duron 1155?

I am going to be overclocking my Duron 700 very soon now. I have a KT7 so I can just mess with the multiplier and FSB settings in BIOS. Well, I got my 700 all the way up to 1155mhz(11.0 x 105) and I might be able to get it higher.

This is REALLY good. But I only ran it that fast long enough to go into the BIOS, check the temp, and then change it back down to 700. The temp did raise from like 40C up to 45C in a pretty short amount of time. So my question is, are the speeds that you can POST at, usually acceptable in Windows? What is the highest you guys have gotten it to post at?

That would be a whole lotta cool if I could o/c it to 1100 or higher.

Things I tried:
POSTed at 11x100.
no POST at 11.5x100 (not enough juice)
While having the multiplier to 7.0, I got the FSB up to 115mhz.
-and that's with generic PC100 RAM.
at 120mhz FSB it gave me a "ROM CHECKSUM ERROR"
Tried 11x105 and it worked
Tried 11x110 no POST (not enough juice again)
I might try something in between (ie. 107)

I would be suprised if it was stable at over 1 gig. Just because the system POSTS does not mean it is stable. Just look a intel's own p3 1.13 ghz

Oh yea forgot to mention what kind of cooling are you using? I was thinking air but 1155mhz could be possible with a peltier and a good chip(and extreme voltage) keep us informed of your progress.

(in my sig)
a TaiSol CEK799032 HSF - their site says it supports up to a 1.1Ghz T-Bird.

only one case fan

But I only had the computer running for about 30 seconds. It would probably be really hot in windows if it was 45C in the BIOS.

45c is safe, but if you put it under load, it's probably gonna go up. i suggest you get something like motherboard moniter and keep an eye on the temp, then run Prime95 torture test or something equivalent, and see if it stays stable. but if it gets too high in temp, try for a peltier, or maybe a water cooling system

I have my 600 mhz Duron at 954 MHz, with an Alpha PAL6035 heatsink/fan. Temperatures are around 49 degrees Celsius under load at 2.0 volts :)

The system is solid as a rock.

yea, I know 45C is safe, but that is in BIOS. The BIOS doesn't even access the cpu I don't think. In windows it will probably jack up there.

redpriest, how did you get the voltage to 2.00? I thought the max was 1.85. That's what it is on my KT7. Also, is it bad to have the voltage that high?

The maximum is 1.85 volts, but I modified my motherboard to allow for higher voltages ;)

Modify your Abit KT7

As for safe, who really knows. The CPU has been running fine for the past 3 weeks. Who's to say it won't 10 months from now?

For $70, I really really couldn't go wrong :)
