Duron 1.8 Ghz with 266 FSB

How much is it?

What do you use ur comp for?

How much are you willing to spend, as an XP will outrun it and cost little more.

Fry's Electronic sells Duron 1.8 for $55.00 and I am using to play first person shooter games, grahpic (Adobe apps) and Maya 5 and Web.

I read this post somewhere saying that Duron 18 still or stopped selling in Europe....1.6 for 49.00 and 1.8 for 55.00 at Fry's Electronic stores in California.

Why would you spend $55 on a Duron 1.8Ghz CPU 266FSB 128kb Cache when for $67
you can get a Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8Ghz CPU 266FSB and 256kb Cache $12 more for a way
better & cooler running CPU

Or for $85.00 you can get a AthlonXP 2500+ 1.83Ghz 333FSB 512KB Cache

Either way stay away from the durons the 128k of cache on them makes for bad gaming and an all around crap computer.

the only thing there good for is as Hair brush 🙂 those many pins works great 2 get out those nots

Duron runs cooler. It's cheaper. It also overclocks better. You can connect L2 bridge to make it full Tbred. Duron is plenty fast even if L2 bridge trick doesn't work. These Duron can be faster than 3200+ Barton if L2 trick work.

That's super deal on 1800+ and amazing overclock on such low voltage. We don't have Frys where I live. You must got HB or IB 0333 stepping or something close. I paid $65 plus shipping for my 1800+ from ExcaliberPC to get guaranteed stepping. I can't wait to test out the chip once I get home in couple of weeks. I doubt my chip will hit that high. I'll be happy with 2.4 ghz.

I agree with some above why are users like you (with the apps you list) messing with cpus like this??? the apps you list are the ones that will benefit nicely from the larger cache counts. The 2100+ retail Tbred B at newegg can be had for 10-15 more and you could get a helluva better chip that many can hit 2.0ghz at default vcore and push on to 2.3+....

I don't understand this obsession with duron chips....These are your mothers cpus IMO...

I've seen it at more than a couple of occsasions. Some (a few I should say) XP 1700 & 1800 can, and will hit 2.5ghz on air.

I agee...there was a XIHUB stepping recently that I saw quite a few ppl hitting 2.2-2.3ghz at default vcore so 1.725v could easily garner a bit more...

I also can attest from seeing shady06 contribute in threads that his methods of testing his oc's are sound and I think you should refrain from calling someone a liar!!!
