Duron 1.6 is a gem~! Many report that this processor runs at 2.0, easy.
I picked up one of these in the refurb section of Newegg for about $30 a while back. I would agree that it runs like a gem. I ran it up to 2.0 no sweat. Newegg reviews agree it's a nice CPU.

It's in a "Call for Availability" status right now so you may not get it.

I got in on this deal - thanks OP.

Mine is a PcChips M811LU. Newegg reviews appear to be good for this board and the processor will do fine for my application. This will make a nice replacement for my aging PII webserver. Now I just need a good case and PS.

outpost has lots of bundle deals, they're all in the cpu section though (alot of times their hot deal section doesn't really give you the hottest deal). they vary from crap prices to good prices.
that 59.99 sepron is here its a call for availability deal though.

what i meant earlier about not needing a duron was both my peecees are faster than it even with it overclocked, but a 2800+ would of been nice to play with.

Some of the durons you could mod with a pencil and turn it into an athlon XP. I got a 1.8 combo a while back that did this.

Not dead now.

I bit. I couldn't help myself, so I hope $49 is worth it. Figure this'll be part of another charity machine. I've given two to a local shelter for boys from broken families. The director has just been estatic about getting them. He says that normally, the donated machines hets are so old that they're just about useless.

New Applbebred Durons are multiplier locked and cache locked. It would be a fruitless effort...

"In stock, same day shipping" CPU alone sells for $45 at Newegg.

The sempron deal that someone linked earlier is $99 now, not $59

I just got this (building a rig for a friend) and beforehand told my friend that I would use another mobo based on the bad quality of the free one. When I got the CPU and Mobo I booted it up and the mobo was dead. Fans spun, etc. but a blank screen. The second time I tried it not even the fans came on... What a POS. I just used another mobo for his new rig. Beware of the PCChips mobo. :disgust:

^^^ Agree ... I cannot say enough bad stuff about PCChips mobos ... they've gotta be worse than ... than ... I dunno, but they're pretty bad. Wildly strange settings (DDR but only AGP1x?) and pretty poor BIOS settings. Nothing but problems with the one(s) I used (810MLR), sound would work, then not, system would boot, but every now and then would only spin fans, horrendous.

Maybe not too bad a deal if you're using it as just some craptacular server sitting off in some dusty Godforsaken corner, but I wouldn't even give one of these to my grandma as an email-n-web computer.

YMMV, of course -- this is IMO.
