I think it should be illegal to charge money for an incomplete product.

And legality aside, they need to stop calling alphas and betas "early access".

When people downloaded the Beta of Doom 3, ID threatened to sue everyone.

The problem is a beta is supposed to be feature complete. And all these "betas" they keep charging people for access too aren't anywhere near finish.

I do agree that charging for access to this is pretty stupid. Even if you do get the full game, charging to do the job of a tester is something I refuse to be a part of.

Depends on the game. Kerbal Space Program and Prison Architect are two early access games that I have about 500 hours into combined. That's about 50x the gameplay I get out of any AAA title released in the past five or so years.

But, once someone gets burned on something like Towns (devs up and disappeared), it makes all early access look bad.

I didn't realize how incomplete this game was. Yeah, there is no way that I'm throwing money at it until it is in a real beta stage at least.

Yes, avoid like the plague.

Awful. I bought it off the back of their success with Endless Space and wish I hadn't.
