<< 1. Agreed, you can specialize in anything using any character, but I don't think that's really a bad thing. You create your own player and then customize him in either melee, ranged, and nature or combar magic. The more you use either skill the better you get it, just like in real life. I think in this way, Dungeon Siege falls into a more realistic category than Diablo 2. >>
Well my primary complaint is thats everything in DS is bash bash bash, or shoot shoot shoot or cast cast cast. In D2, even the melee characters had elaborate skills.
<< 2. I dunno, I'm running with a full party right now, and have no problems keeping up as long as I know when to pause to organize my people. The combat system in DS differs significantly from Diablo's, it's more like the Baldur's Gate series when it comes to strategy and party organization. It's not inferior to Diablo 2 because it's not like Diablo 2. >>
Well, pausing to organize the people is the problem. It feels like after every room I have to stop and make sure the right one out of my 5 guys has the right armor etc... Its a different type of game, but I guess its not really my cup of tea.
<< 3. Your character starts blinking yellow when you're low on health. It has caught me off guard a few times and I've died, but 9 times out of 10 I glance up and if I'm low, I just hit my heal juice hotkey and I'm good to go. An audio alert would IMO take away from the immersive feeling of the game. In the real world, if you're getting the crap pounded out of you and you're about to die, you don't hear a "ding ding ding" notifying you of that fact. >>
In the real world its quite obvious to you when youre about to die, even if a bell doesnt ring. In DS, you wouldnt have a clue youre about to die unless you look at a teeny weeny bar in the corner. D2 didnt need a sound because it had an in your face globe. At the very least the bar should have been on your character like an RTS so you dont have to keep looking up, drawing your attention away from battle.
<< 4. I agree with this totally. The multiplayer element of Dungeon Siege is seriously lacking, especially when you go into a multiplayer server only to find 80 and 90 level characters en masse only a few days after than game is out. Hopefully they'll release a patch that stops people from transferring their single player character into the mulitplayer game. >>
Yeah right now, its pretty ridiculous, and almost senseless to play online.
<< 5. I disagree with this. If you turn on the EAX, this game's sound is stunning, and the music works well for the areas you are walking into. >>
The music is ok, but nothing that gets stuck in your head, at least for me. And I find the EAX to be WAY overdone. Go into a cave and it feels like youre in a bathroom. D2 had much better EAX in the caves.
<< Oh well, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I think Dungeon Siege is one of the better games of the last few years. >>
Its a good game, but I wouldnt put it up there against the best games of the past few years. Nice GFX though.
