Dungeon Siege - Multiplayer Question.

I just picked up a copy of DS. My question is - Should i play it through with a friend before playing the single player? Or are they both identical meaning i won't be missing out on anything if i jump right into lan play. Thnx
 
i'd play single player first, because you'll miss stuff, like being able to have a party of people (in multiplayer you only get one person to control) and also there are no pack mules in multiplayer.
