Microsoft Game Studios today announced that Dungeon Siege II, the sequel to the best-selling RPG from Gas Powered Games, is currently in development and is slated for release in 2004.

You can find more information here.

I am looking forward to this game, the original was a blast and I still replay it from time to time.

The original was so boring for me. All i did was click click click. Loot was absolutely horrible... even after killing the dragon, there wasn't a single thing i could use or wanted

unfortunately the original was dissapointing. I thought all the people making mods for the game would get past the stupid little spell or weapon and recreate the game. There was one lvl that was released that was a new area and hence more of a new story, but it needed more variety to the game. I may reinstall and see if I can find more stuff now, but if they make a 2nd one they really need to concentrate more on story and having better/more items.

Same experience for me. I played for maybe 3 weeks because my wife enjoyed it. She hadn't played Diablo ;)

Just so empty of purpose. No offense intended, but I feel like i've grown out of clickfests.

This said, maybe Dungeon Siege 2 will be better. Stranger things have happened...and that E3 trailer did look nice.

Never finished the DS1 demo, way too boring and repetitive. I'm sure DS2 will sell like condoms but I prefer unprotected gaming.

Hm..... I don't quite get the analogy.

Anyways, DS1 felt really, really pointless to me. When I play games, I like to be immersed in a world that's almost believable and DS1 wasn't very convincing. The game would be awesome if they made the world much bigger with more interactivity.

I enjoyed it, but playing as a mage so I was busy casting spells, dodging, etc. while the other (computer-controlled) party members were doing the boring hack-n-slash.

What could be really cool would be using the engine for a Fallout style post-nuclear game :) especially with Fallout-style depth of roleplaying :D

(Somehow I don't think Interplay's upcoming Fallout: POS will rise to anywhere near that level though. :p )

i sold dungeon siege right after i beat the game. it's just too repetitive, hack and slack through the whole game, the only thing i got out of the game was a twitching middle finger from all the clicking, i can't even flip people off anymore.

what pyramids?

in desert of grescal(the last stage of ds), there are 2 lost pyramids(pyramid of the dead and pyramid of the spirit).. basically, you get to fight higher level monsters in the pyramid and get better items.. one of the pyramid is connected to the east island..

I hope they make it alot more responsive and player controlled. I really hated the automation of the first one. I could just play it clicking once in a while... la la la smoke, have a beer, click again, la la la.. I felt like I was just watching an animation and clicking once in a while, like dragon's lair lol. Gimme the antiquated D2 any day (Hardcore on bnet). Similar genre but Alot more responsive, entertaining items and much better netplay and replay value.

DS is a great looking game with a decent concept, but for me, more control has to go to the player for it to be worth playing.

what's so bad about automation? it's nice to be able to chat with my buddies in ds while fighting in the dungeon without getting killed by the monsters.. :)

maybe if they improve the automation, since quite frequently I would have my character set on the most aggressive and get up for a minute, come back and he's just standing there getting smacked around and not fighting back. I think they have the automation because if it gets crowded it's too easy to accidentaly click on another character which would become quickly frustrating.
