Dungeon Siege for $29.99 at CompUSA

Download the demo!

It includes like 10% of a level or something and is more than enough to let you know what the game is like.

Gameplay is somewhat repetitive, by the end of the demo you will have an idea if it is your cup of tea.

Even if it is not your cup of tea the demo is worth it just for the "eye candy" and the completely intuitive interface (esp if you have a mouse wheel).

It's nice to see how well a 3D environment can be implemented and how intuitive an interface can be.

A little disapointed (esp given Chris Taylor's reputation) that the game requires almost no strategy and that the 3D aspects of the environment are not really exploited (think levels like starcraft not the 3D terain and los etc of Total Anihilation).

Gas powered games is making this a fairly open architecture with level editors and what not. I hope some hefty mods take advantage of the engine to make something really interesting out of this beautiful game.

Yup, grab the demo. I downloaded it Friday and had it finished by last night. The demo gives you 10% of the actual game and convinced me to go buy the damn thing. $29.99 at CompUSA.

I'm wondering if I'm going to have to replay that first 10% - heh. Seemed a little too easy somehow (I picked "normal" difficulty). I found myself using ranged weapons and spells against the enemy "Krugs" and then running away a little. The Krugs and other creatures didn't seem to follow you very far when you're retreating. I'd just pick them off one at a time, run away, come back and repeat. Some of the areas did force you into hand-to-hand combat more, but it seems like this strategy got me thru the 10% demo pretty quickly.

Great game though, seems like it would be fun in multiplayer mode. 😀

This game is awesome!!! I'm about half way done with the single player and am so addicted I can barely check the hot deals. The multiplayer is alot of fun too, especially since you can import your single player characters into multiplayer. I'd recommend this game to any everquest, rpg, etc. fans.

I really like this game, but it does get old fast.

And since it has microsoft's name on it, it is plagued with bugs, with little to no hope of a patch. Most people are lucky if they can play for half an hour straight.

Also don't forget that there's an "equivalent" mail-in rebate for a $10 EB gift certificate from www.ebworld.com
(click on Store Rebates at the bottom of the left-hand menu. I find that EB's return policy is far more liberal
than BB on opened software, if you have compatibility issues with the game, or just decide that it's not for you.

SinnerWolf: FWIW, I'm about 20 hours into the game, and haven't noticed any showstopping issues that
prevent play (I think there are some gameplay balance issues, but I don't think that's what you were
referring to).

All in all, I think it's a great mindless hack 'n' slash game.

I'm running WinXP Pro and haven't experienced any crashes or bugs either. I have no idea how many hours, just my guy is level 39 combat magic. =]

I've played 4+ hours straight on Dungeon Siege w/o a crash, must be one of the lucky ones. Gameplay is simplistic and does get tedious, but strangely I can't stop playing... must... get... more... ph4t... l3wt...

It really does have gorgeous graphics and environments though.

I cruised out and bought it yesterday. I like it so far. Takes a few minutes to get used to the interface (which is pretty intuitive), but it's a cool game. I need to figure out how to fight with a posse, though. They keep dying and so does my mule.

I'm with Coraanu, too. I'm running XP and I haven't had a glitch yet. 🙂

Great game! I've got about 50 hours into
it so far. The graphics are beautiful!
It doesn't kill my interest in Diablo 2, but a nice break from it.

Check out the demo first, as others said.

My favorite games of all time are Diablo and Diablo 2. DS is, to me, very similar to Baldur's Gate. I lost interest after trying it for a couple of hours. Its combat system hardly involves the player at all. It is pretty, though, but just not my cup of tea.

Yeah, I am hooked on that game now. However, there is this part of the game which is kind ridiculas. Put it this way, swords, bows, and magic up against machine guns and flame thrower and win......... you tell me that there's nothing wrong with that.

I'll say this for it...the first time you fight a dragon, even a "smaller one" like the Frost Drakes, it's worth the price of admission.

Also, if you happen to get PCGamer, there's another 20% off at BestBuy coupon. PM this at BB and use the coupon!

I ordered it online Sat at 11:55pm just before midnight cuz I didn't know if this price was new or was going to expire Sunday. It cost me $5 shipping rather than going to pick it up but oh well. I couldn't see for the life of me the pdf ads since they are so horrible and not every item has a text description. Also search this hot deals forum and only Best Buy was mentioned.

I played the demo and it forced me to buy the game. The game engine uses DirectX7 and seems to be 1005 identical to Empire Earth 3D game engine. I wasn't impressed with graphics when you zoom in. I have a geforce ti4400 so I'll try AA and see if that helps it. Too me this game is simple enough and not overly complicated. I don't want to spend 50 hours building a character like in other games. I couldn't figure out how to start Age of Wonders II demo for the life of me. I'm an RTCW type of gamer anyway.

<< bunker,

What issue of PCGamer is this 20% off offer in? LMK quick 🙂 I'm getting desperate

Most recent....it's at home so I'm not sure of the month. I subscribe to it and the issues are always a month or two ahead of what month it actually is!

I was looking at the box, and it does't really have that good of graphics. Hehe, i'm a picture person. From what i have read, i guess it has good game play.

these codes makes this game toooooooooooooo easy

*doink*

who told you to use the cheat code.

I finished the game in about 20 hours. The story was okay. Not as involving as diablo 1-2, and the plot was a little weak. But the gameplay is definitely innovative, and I give it a thumbs up. Worth the 30 dollars. :|

The characters look too out of place and too cartoony. The only thing going for it is the 3D background world. I'm waiting for Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights. Hopefully those will at least include a good story line and be true RPG. I personally don't like 3D characters as they look too pointy. 2D sprites like Baldur's Gate and Diablo 2 look a lot more detailed to me.

Anyway, get the demo to see if you will like it.
