Yeah no doubt itll be old news but its the first ive heard of it, im pretty psyched i was really into DK2 a few days ago which caused my deep rooted hatred for EA to resurface reading on wiki that they canned DK3 for a goddamn harry potter game.... Harry potter!? Fuck you EA :(

Says its out in january as well:

Hope its like dungeon keeper and you can torture stuff and convert them in your dungeon, or keep creatures imprisoned that would be great. I remember the last level in DK2 i did nothing but capture/convert knights, had about 32 at the highest point before they all outgrew my dungeon ran out of space/food/everything and left. Good times.

Yea, Tropico 3 rocked. I haven't tried any of their other games though. Although I can't think of a game that used the term "spiritual successor" that actually lived up to what it was trying to succeed.

Did they ever fix tourism?

Crysis was a good spiritual successor to farcry, it basically was farcry with a nanosuit.

Worked fine for me last time i played, the lack of tourists was a bit of a pain and some never used my facilities but the tourist tower block thing always worked well, raked in the cash with that.

My only complaint with tropico 3 is once you are successful theres no challenge anymore, you can only terrorize your own people with your 6 or 7 military bases and 100 soldiers which gets old. There should be a combat element, invade another island maybe or fend off invasions etc. I really hoped that when the USA/USSR invaded i would get the chance to fend them off, not like a small island can beat a superpower but its not like a superpower would commit all that much to take over a small dumpy little island like mine :p Shame the game ends under those circumstances.

What was broken with it? It seemed to work fine last I played it.

I can't remember any more. People on the Kalypso forums had rather detailed explanations on what was wrong. For the most part, I have played the game for a good number of hours but on the whole tourism never worked. People would come in but they would rarely ever visit any attractions. The only money makers were the hotels. In the end I just gave up on tourism because it never went anywhere. And this leads in to the main complaint of Tropico 3 is that it was not very challenging. Like Maximillian stated, once you got a little successful it was clear sailing for the rest of the scenario. I could completely ignore tourism because I never needed that additional source of income. Just put down some farms and build up your industry with canneries and factories and you're pretty much set from that point on.

I think that is where the campaign comes into play. With the campaign they give you objectives and depending on the missions can add some difficult and uniqueness to the game. In the expansion I had some difficults with some of the missions and have yet to beat them all.

The above was my experience in playing through the campaign though I have not purchased the expansion set.
