Duncan wins MVP award for second straight year

I'm a big spurs fan and even I was surprised. I thought garnett would win it for sure.

oh well, go spurs!

you gotta be kiddin' me. i thought for sure KG had it in the bag, and if not him, Kobe. man, thats a huge letdown.

btw: wanted kobe also. the triple-doubles, the time where he went what-was it, 35+ points like 9 games in a row, and that game where he hit all those 3-pointers, didnt he hit like 1,000 in a row 😛 oh well.

i'm surprised tracy mcgrady doesn't get much support for mvp. i think part of it is the fact that he's stuck in a small market, but he by far was more important to his team's success than any of the other guys. mcgrady's supporting cast is just pathetic.

I'm a Spurs fan for life and i still think Tmac should have won this award

are you kidding me?! maybe you have been watching a different version of the NBA than me...

he's great, i dont think anyone can dispute that, but he just wasn't as important to his tteam as KG was to the Wolves or as Tmac was to the Magic

Kobe can use it as motivation to burn the Spurs again in the playoffs, as he has done for several years now.

wow i thought Kobe or KG would win it. especially Kobe with those huge scoring streaks he had.

all great players, IMO. hard to pick one.

I thought KG deserved it. I think the main reason why Kobe didnt get was during the end of his how many game 40 pt streak he was forcing it so he could extend it. Thats not good in the eyes of the sports journalists eyes.

well, the voting is done during postseason, as the Twolves were getting spanked, so KG lost it there prolly

MVP situation is similar to MLB I suppose, with the best player on the best team, aka Tejada over A-Rod...as is the situation here, Spurs had best rec, beating out Twolves and Lakers easily. McGrady really had no chance, the team is so barely in the playoffs, plus it's in the weaker Eastern conference

voting is not done in the postseason. ballots are due before the playoffs start.

I didn't like this years mvp selection at all either. Duncan got it already last year when it should have went to j. kidd. This year had alot more candidates, KG, kobe, tmac all great choices, but for duncan to get it again kinda makes me wonder about this whole mvp thing.
I had always though MVP was given to the player most valuable to the team, KG brought homecourt to the wolves this year, kobe w/ the a little help from shaq brought the lakers back to playoff contention with his crazy feb. Tmac IS the magic. Last year was sooo J. kidds year, he helped the nets to the nba finals, granted in the Least coast but none the less he was still the one that got them there.
I'm not saying Duncan isn't valuable to his team, but he didn't do anything to his team this year that made it crazy, he was consistant thats true but he didn't go through adversity to get his team where it is now(aside from chokin in last years playoff series v. the lakers). , like bring the team from crap to the ish...

Garnett was cheated from it. Its close, but compare their numbers for the season:
Garnett averaged more assists and steals while duncan wins in blocks.
Everything else was about the same.
Yeah the spurs were the best, but duncan has a better supporting cast..
Even then the Twolves were 4th in the league..

Kevin Garnett

PPG 23.0
RPG 13.4
APG 6.0
SPG 1.38
BPG 1.57
FG% .502
FT% .751
3P% .282
MPG 40.5

Tim Duncan

PPG 23.3
RPG 12.9
APG 3.9
SPG .68
BPG 2.93
FG% .513
FT% .710
3P% .273
MPG 39.3

I'll tell you what, it couldn't have happened to a WIMPIER GUY.

OMG, this guy is a wuss. biggest wuss in basketball and the only thing that can convince me otherwise is if he can take the spurs and BEAT the lakers.

I wonder how many years in a row they can give it to duncan when other players are much more deserving. I'm still ticked over how Kidd got reamed last year even though I'm not a nets fan. Duncan must be blowing Stern or something to have ended up with this two years in a row.

No way... It had to be Kobe or KG.
This is messed up. Then again I can't see the Spurs in the playoffs without him, much like the Lakers w/ Kobe and 'Wolves w/KG...

i think kobe got cheated (kg is deserving though also). he wont have big rebound or block numbers also because he's not as tall as kg and he has shaq to handle that business.

edit: btw, kobe's numbers BLOW duncan outta the water.

edit02: k, not exactly BLOW him out, but he does have some better looking numbers.

duncan gets it cause he supposedly such a "good" guy. OMFG, this fvcking sh1t about players being "good" guys pisses me off. AI isn't a "good" guy but he w/o doubt deserves consideration EVERY FVCKING Year. and i'm not a 76ers fan but i can see that. Kobe, KG, McGrady all probably should have won it over Duncan. JKidd CLEARLY deserved it over duncan last year. It shouldn't even have been a contest. JKidd takes his team to the NBA finals and Spurs can't even get past the 2nd round. NBA sux for it's favoritism.

gah .. stupid Duncan

two years straight he steals MVP from two players more deserving . J.Kidd and Garnett ... bastard people who vote MVP.
