That's why it was packaged...if said "nasty vermin" really live in the backroom of grocery stores, like you say, then practically EVERYTHING in the store has had "nasty vermin" crawling over it.

They can't because of liability issues..I forget the exact wording. Stupid IMHO.

Note: I've never gotten food out of a dumpster, but I don't see the problem with it.

the reason stores dont donate the food to charity is they are afraid of lawsuits.

if someone gets sick off the food the store is still liable, for them the rsik is to great so they rather just toss the food.

same thing goes for dumpsters, thats why now a days a lot fo large chain stores lock up their trash bins or use compactors or rip up the packages then toss them.

I had a friend that made a semi-decent living dumpster diving at local factories. He would refurb equipment that was thrown out and sell it. That went on for about three years until the FBI showed up at his door and searched his house. They let him keep what he already had, but told him not to do it any more.
