Dumpster diving is illegal in some counties/cities, although technically by law the title of the item comes into your posession when you claim it, but who knows

Um...don't know how this thread de-generated the way it did but I just got back from dumpster diving at my apartment comples.

I saw a couple of mid-towers sticking out as I was putting my old, stinky Airwalks into the dumpster. I saw a couple of drives I could use so I went back to my apartment and grabbed a couple of screwdrivers.

Fifteen minutes later I had nabbed the following:

30gb 5400rpm Maxtor Hdd (the only real "catch")
128 mb EDO memory (16mb Sticks)
256 mb PC100 (2 64mb sticks, 128mb stick, branded HP)
2 x 64 mb PC100 generic sticks
3 CD-Rom Drives (up to 32x Acer branded)
3 1.44mb floppy drives
2 small HDDs (2 gig or so)


Not bad for a spontaneous dive eh?

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I do light-weight dumpster diving for coupons. But, see, Pathmark has triple coupons this week, so if I have a good coupon the item is free or close to it, so it pays to grab the newspaper inserts out of the bins and honk the good ones. I have a route of the good dumpsters.

Next step, I suppose: drooling and total senility.

there used to be this little old lady that scavenged the dumpster at my old apartment building for cans
