Still doesn't beat the guy in my lab who tried to put a floppy diskette into the tray-loading CD-ROM drive. It's a small miracle I was passing by when he tried it or we'd have had one dead CD-ROM drive.
I'm also fond of the guy who blamed me for installing the building's HVAC blower so close to the lab because he was bothered by the hum. (Riiiight, like the lab techs have control over architecture...)

Back when I did tech support for a living (I'm a few rungs up the ladder now, fortunately) we had a grad student stick a floppy into a slot-load CD drive... that sucker was a pain to remove! :disgust:
One of the best calls I've ever gotten was from a user who had a Mac KB with an integrated keypad (some of the older ones were separate). She insisted that someone come by to remove her keypad because it was too confusing to be able to type numbers in two different places on the KB.

One of our techs offered to go over with a hacksaw and take care of the problem...

A slot-load I can almost understand (we get people putting floppies into ZIP drives all the time) but putting a floppy into a tray-loading drive? I still can't get over that guy. I also love when people come in 5 minutes before class and print out a report. This is especially fun on busy days when the printers have a 30-45 minute backlog.
User: Can you get my printout, I have class in 5 minutes.
Me: Did you just print it?
User: Yes.
Me: The printers are backed up because everyone's printing. It'll be at least a half-hour before it comes out.
User: But I need it for class in 5 minutes.
Me: I can't make the printers go any faster.
User: But I need it.
Me: There's nothing I can do.
User: But the professor will count it as late and I'll lose a whole letter grade!
Me: Next time, don't wait until the last minute.
