I'll have to remember this thread when the real heat gets here. I work in an un-airconditioned tool plant and the temperature climbed to as high as 111 degrees toward the back corner of the building last year. We have fans, but when it's that hot, they just blow hot air on you and almost make it worse. I can wear tee shirts but have to wear jeans/slacks because of the working conditions. We did have AC on a stick last year (popcicles) but that's been cut out this year! 🙁

Oh, and it really sucks that they don't let you use a fan. At most, a small fan would cost between $0.05 and $0.10 per day per person (based on business rates for electricity in KY). Hardly savings vs the lost productivity.

LOL- that place has to be hell to work at. They're going to save like $100 max doing that. If $100 makes or breaks things, there's bigger problems 🙂
 
How about having everyone work through the night instead? When it's dark it it's not as hot right?!!?!?!?!?


Looks like it's time for you to look for a new job.

If the company you're working for is going to that kind of extreme to cut cost then chances are they're on the brink anyway.

Old ass thread, but I cant believe how many people think 78 is not hot.

Isn't 68 supposed to be room temperature.

For me anything over 74 indoors is uncomfortable and causes me to sweat. And no I am not a fatass, not even close!

You've peaked my interest.

The company I'm currently working on a project for cuts the air-conditioning around 6:30pm on weeknights and on the weekends...it gets toasty in the building if you work late a lot or on the weekends (which has been necessary with a recent go live in 3 locations).

About 70F is room temperature. And IIRC, the smallest change in fahrenheit temperature the human body can detect is 2F, so that wouldn't be too far off.
