Dumbasses need to stop pirating software.

Bleh, there's a way around that.

But of course, I figured it out for educational purposes ONLY.

No, the ability of people who don't steal to use a computer without having to call up an increasing number of large corporations and get permission to use the software we already paid for.

Activation is sure better than back in the day ... "Look on page 41, word 6 of the 3rd paragraph in the manual to continue..."

I would guess that they are probably doing this for the same reason Microsoft did it. They aren't trying to stop the actual pirates but more the people who think it's alright to let their friends and neighbors use the same software that they bought legally. Something like this isn't going to stop software pirates.

I never found page 41. 🙁 🙁

Screw anti-pirates. It's people that show the companies that you are willing to pay so much for software. $50 a game? Bump that.

HAHA... I remember actually re-creating the decoder wheel that came with Mike Ditka football years ago.

Pirates support the company they are stealing from by creating a demand. Great way to rebel.

It's never going to end, deal with it.

There is a sig quote around here somewhere that applies quite well to this mentality. I wish I could remember it, but basically it was something along the lines of: All evil needs to conquer is for good men to do nothing.

The pirates are evil for stealing. Stealing is wrong, no arguing against that. Corporations are evil for charging so much, in essence stealing from the common person, though the common person isn't always forced to buy the software, sometimes they are (i.e. I was required to purchase Windows XP for my college). One must decide which is the greater of the two evils.

Who the heck said anyone was rebelling? You think that is what pirating is about? Lol. Maybe for the hackers and crackers that actually make pirating possable, but what good is that for if no one is going to download your hack/crack? Pirating is for those that don't have the money, OR don't feel they should pay that much for a certain product. You know what? I know this post is going to be flamed to hell by all the do-gooders. I don't care what you think about what I say, or how you think you know me and how good of a person *or bad of a person* I am for saying this.

We know the points you are going to try to make, so save yourself...

"Oh, man. That's like saying it's ok to go steal ::insert item:: from ::insert store::."
or
"That's like stealing a car."
or
"If you don't have the money, what makes you deserve the "right" to own this software for free, unlike Joe Blow?"
ect. ect.

Your college probably provides Windows XP for a discount educational price. I would refuse to attend a college that required crap like that. Not worth the hassle. And hell, if you are spending ungodly amounts of money ona questionable "education," you should have $100 to buy Windows XP.

I don't pirate to rebel. I pirate because in most cases I wouldn't buy the software anyway. And in the other cases...well I'm a bad boy and hopefully will come to terms with that in the future. I buy some software though. Actually I haven't "stolen" any in so long because all I really need is win2k and the stuff I get from work anyhow.

No, they don't provide it with an education discount. I have a full-scholarship, so I'm paying nothing to go here, but that was not really to point of my message, merely an example.
