Dumb terminal laptop

Hi does anybody know if there is a laptop type device that can be used as a dumb terminal to a desktop PC?

Basically I want to be able to sit on my sofa and use my PC without doing something like remote desktop ie a portable screen and keyboard that I can play games on that has all the power and cost of my desktop PC.

I don't mind it being physically connected to my PC with a cable - in fact I'd prefer that kind of thing over a wireless connection.

This sounds like a thing a lot of people would like to do but I haven't seen this kind of device anywhere.

Run a really long monitor cable?

I was under the impression the port on the back of a standard laptop was purely an output. Also I would have to switch on the laptop which would boot the operating system and how would I be able to use the keyboard and touchpad to control the desktop pc?

Centrix Distributed System.

Windows remote Desktop.

Linux.

Mainframe.

Build a server and log onto it. (Somewhat Expensive.) Linux works somewhat like this.
