Okay,

I've got a duron 750 and I'm seeing thunderbird prices dropping like nobody's business.

If I want to swap out my duron for an upgrade, do I have to do anything other than readjust the BIOS settings to reflect the new CPU's specs?

That is, I don't need to worry about registry settings or reinstalling the OS, do I?

(I told you it was dumb!)

Thanks for any slaps upside the head!

Just swap 'em and you're set. The bios should detect inconsistancies if you have it manually set (that is, if you've not messed with it too much ;) ), and all will be good.

No you don't, do you, my little bigsy wigsy...

Ahem... no, you don't have to do ah heck all. Just change the multiplier either in the BIOS or via a jumper, and it'll all work as new. Can you imagine how badly everything would work if the OS had to install a different instruction set for each CPU? Ugh.
