I also thought they weren't supposed to, but soon I figured out it was all dependent on the size of an ant. The bigger they're, the more bold. And the boldest aren't shy to bite you. Since I haven't seen a big ant (or any ant at all, to be more specific) in years the only insects that bite me now are mosquitos. Luckily, Raid does help against them.

Think about it this way. Better fire ants, than say, man eating rats. That's my opinion, at least.
Give a nest of angry fire ants a chance, they'll eat a man.

The main problem is all the yankees that insist on moving down here without knowing about the native flora and fauna. 😉

Ummm, ants dont just bite in the south. Ive bitten by an ant here in Canada.

Just one, Damn son, I live here in South Texas, everythiing either bites, stings , has spines, or will kill you. We don't just get bit once, cows are actually taken down by fire ants. You canadians make me laugh.

Fire ants are horriable, like killer bees but no wings. Going through the Air Force Police Academy at Lackland AFB San Antonio Texas, you learned real real quick that when the instructors yelled out PUSH UPPSSS! you looked to make sure you were not around any ant beds when you start beating your face.
