Dumb RAM question...

I purchased Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (not the tracers) for real cheap after rebate on Newegg. I was planning to purchase a 2nd set for a total of 4 gigs on my new rig but the next mourning the price was back to normal (ouch).

My question is this. Do I need to have the exact same RAM if I ordered another 2 gigs or can it be any brand/model? I want to stick with PC2 8500 since if I don't it will be a waste of the memory I already purchased.

So if say the tracers went on sale, can I just use them and have no problems with OCing the RAM a bit? Since the tracers are already $30 cheaper than the normal ones for some reason.

Maybe a dumb ass questions but I don't want to waste money :)

Thanks!!

You don't need the exact same ram or make even. Keep in mind if you get 2 different sets the system will run at the lower clocked one. So if you are ocing and one set is more capable than the other, you will only see the advantages of the ram limiting the system.

so in short no
