If a mobo only supports up to PC2100 memory, can you put sticks of PC2700 and have it function at PC2100 speeds (ddr266?), or will the mobo not accept it at all?

I know, I am having a rough morning, and google is not my friend today.

Here's a general rule-of-thumb that I use for customers at work:
You can almost always clock memory down, but you can't clock it up.

Yes, I know about overclocking. And that sentance makes no sense to an overclocker. But these people are the British equivalent of Joe Sixpack. Sigh.
