I got an SLK-800 a while back, and after putting it on, I OC'ed. At 2Ghz I was seeing artifacts and the temp was really high.
I lowered the OC to 1.75 Ghz and the system has been running fine, except mobo temp was 33 and core temp was 45. I thought "wow OC'ing sure raises temps!" But, it's run stable for 2 months.

I have a lot of dust in my house and so last night I opened the case to clean it out. As I took apart the heatsink/ fan, I realized the heatsink was on backwards! ARHGGG! I don't know how I did that, after reading at least 5 posts here about it, and looking at the directions.

Needless to say the chip is hitting 2 Ghz comfortably now and temps are 33/35 running F@H 24/7.

I just had to share :)

They are there for a reason.:p
And they might even be translated humorously! The documentation I got with a 3.5" HD enclosure was great - quick example that I remember easily: the side of the box had a list titled "System Request." They meant "System Requirements.":Q

Well push for MORE.

Those temps are nice, you have at least 2.2ghz in that chip

The clip on the clip-version SLK-800 is not symmetrical (just like all SocketA heatsinks), so if the heatsink is installed backwards, the clip's pressure point is not over the CPU core. :Q

Also, the underside is stepped at one end to accomodate the raised, solid-plastic end of the CPU socket, just like other SocketA heatsinks (super photo here).

Yes I had the stepped side away from the socket arm, which is the whole reason it's there. I'm amazed it even worked at all.

And I will keep pushing the OC a little higher. I need to read my mobo manual and find out where to lock the agp bus. I either didn't see a setting in the bios, or didn't interpret what I did see correctly.

I also need to read up on ram timings and then how to fool around with OCing my Ti4200 (just for kicks).

Unfortunately, the AGP bus and PCI bus can't be locked on that board, although you can artfully use the dividers to keep them close to their spec. nForce2 does have the ability to clock the AGP and PCI independently, if you need an excuse to buy one... :D

Hah no excuse needed, just the money :D

I also am reading that using dual ram chips might provide a nice boost as well. At the moment I only have one chip. Christmas is getting closer and closer ;)
