Anybody remember the debacle around the Duke LaCrosse team and the stripper who claimed she was raped?

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/12/13/D8M06HMG0.html

Several different samples of semen from her panties, none of them linked to the accused.

The motion, signed by attorneys for defendants Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and David Evans, complained that the information was not disclosed in a report on the testing prosecutors provided earlier this year to the defense.

I wonder when this guy was going to turn it over?
Nice job there Mr. DA.

The prosecuting attorney is almost as incompetent as the accusing stripper.

The DA is in HUGE trouble here. This was information he was supposed to disclose to the defense MONTHS ago. This is a textbook case of prosecutorial abuse. He'll be lucky to avoid disbarment after this.

Hahaha damn it,
I'd swear that the one time I caught it on the news, they were showing a white girl in the little side panel. I must've gotten it confused with the Kobe chick or something. Dumb story in any case... and that chick is a sloot.

Yikes, seven DNA samples in one pair of underwear?

Most of the people I know have had around 10 partners - TOTAL.

Well, an NC Congressman (can't remember if he's state or federal) has sent a letter to the DoJ regarding Nifong and his conduct etc.

The concensus among the "talking head" lawyers on TV (Greta etc) is that Nifong is boob who has misused his office.

Hopefully the DoJ will take some action. We're well past the time when Nifong could legitimately pull out a "smoking gun" piece of evidence. IANAL, but seems the Discovery phase is over, all evidence should have long ago been submitted to defendants counsel. If Nifong is w/h anything (although I can't imagine what it be at this point) he should be punished/admonished.

But I highly doubt Nifong actually has anything, so the case s/b dropped.

Even for a stripper that's a lot, either than or she only has one pair of underwear.

Not that many. Do they need to pull a train to get warmed up to do their show?

We don't have all the facts, but the evidence we do have strongly suggests this is a bogus charge and the DA is largely at fault. Sometimes the injustice is against the rape victim, and others it's from the alleged victim.

It was a shame these team members were considered guilty from day one. It didn't help to have Rev. Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton stoking the racism fires.

Let?s not forget that this all happened while the DA was running for reelection in a largely minority area.
When all the black leaders rallied behind the accuser I am sure the DA felt the pressure to stand behind her as well.

There is a lot of blame to go around in this case. Very little of it goes to the players who have suffered the most. Most of it goes to the accuser who is pushing her most likely false claims.

I hope the Duke players sue her. Sadly there does not seem much they can do to DA, unless it can be proven that he intentionally acted like an idiot.

He should be thrown in jail. If the government refuses then the people should do it themselves. The DA does not deserve to go free.

1) Durham County is predominantly white . . . but just barely.
2) There wasn't going to be much of a race for DA (other candidates sux). Whatever pressure Nifong may have felt wouldn't explain taking a sure loser to trial . . . even less so to do it in an unprofessional manner.
3) I wouldn't say VERY little blame goes to these guys (although at least one of them might have been gone well before she left). Regardless, the 'team' set the stage and one (or more) stoked it with a slur as she left. This woman's claims appear spurious . . . like signs of intelligence from GWB. And if shown to be false . . . she should have the book thrown at her. On the flipside, some of the legal eagles for the defense tried to play with Nifong. Remember all of these guys are white and well-off. One even had what looked like a pretty good alibi. Yet, they still got hooked. IMO, Nifong may be bad but the defense is worse.
4) No point in sueing her . . . what is she going to pay in . . . dollar bills and press-on nails?

One reason to sue, to keep her from making any money off this through the selling of her story.

Plus takes any money already given to her through her false claims away from her. They could sue and then give the money to some rape orginization.

They won't. The black community thinks they are guilty because a black stripper accused white kids from Duke of rape. DA used this for his own purposes. I bet the DA was hoping one kid would break in hopes he would go away and then they could railroad the others into jail.

If the charges are NOT dropped immediately, I would sue the city for millions.

That's like saying a woman is to blame for bringing on sexual harassment if she wears a low cut blouse at work.
