what do you want to set the partitons as with part. magic?
2 primary or 1 primary & 1 extended or what?please help.

For dual booting I normally set up a HD this way. Make a small partition ~500 meg (C). Make it active (primary). Then make the rest of the HD an Extended partition with at least 2 logical partitions (D & E). Install Win98 in a logical partition. Then install Win2K in the other logical partition. You can then move your swap/page files to the 'C' partition. If you have a second HD, make the entire HD an extended partition and all your drive letters will be in order.

On my HD i have it setup as follows: c: primary partition(fat32) win98, d: extended logical partition(fat32) win2k, e: extended logical partition(fat32) installs..

20 gig harddrive. With the software that came with your drive, partition it into 3 equal drives. The program will set the bootable partition.

Install Win98 just as you always have...

Install W2K from within '98. It will give you an option to specify the partition to use. In this case 'C:' is the '98. Choose 'D:' for the W2K install. Choose Fat32 for best compatibility.

Thw W2K installation program will do the rest...no need to start discussing extended, logical, etc. Just let the installation program do it's stuff.

I had the same problem when I was trying this. My solution was a little more simple. I went to a computer show the week before getting my hands on Win2k and bought a swappable hard drive tray. then bought three drawers for it. Each drawer holds one 3.5 hard drive. I have one with Win98SE, one with Win2k pro, and one with WinME. I runs sweet now, and it was a helluvalot simpler than re-partitioning your single drive for multilpe OS's.(of course this is provided you have 2 other drives laying around like I did 😉 )

Just my .02 cents.
