Dudley Moore Died

-- DJ Actor Dudley Moore Dies At Age 66 Of Pneumonia --

LOS ANGELES (AP)--Actor Dudley Moore, an unlikely Hollywood heartthrob in "10"
and "Arthur" as a cuddly pip-squeak whose charm melted female hearts, died
Wednesday at his home in Plainfield, N.J., a spokeswoman said. He was 66.
Moore died at 11 a.m. EST, said publicist Michelle Bega in Los Angeles. He
died of pneumonia as a complication of progressive supranuclear palsy, she said.
There was more than a touch of autobiography in "10," the 1979 film in which
Moore played a musician determined to marry a perfect woman. But the happy
ending eluded him in real life. Four marriages ended in divorce.
He confessed to being driven by feelings of inferiority about his
working-class origins in Dagenham, east London, and because of his height of
five feet, 2 1/2 inches. In later life he also spoke of the pain of being
rejected by his mother because he was born with a deformed left foot.
Comedians, he said in an interview with Newsday in 1980, are often driven by
such feelings. "I certainly did feel inferior. Because of class. Because of
strength. Because of height. ... I guess if I'd been able to hit somebody in the
nose, I wouldn't have been a comic."

Let's remember the happy times with Dudley...

...remember when they used to spoof him on "The Critic"? Good stuff.

Too bad about his death though.

<< Anyone ever see Milo & Otis?? >>

Too bad about Dudley though 🙁

He's been sick for a while 🙁

Cheers,

Too bad. He was great in "10". Aurthur was funny too. Can you believe he was married to Susan Anton? He was around 5' tall and she could dunk a basketball.

D*mn, man.....d*mn.

🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

He definitely hit his stride in Arthur. "You're a hooker?!" "Where's the rest of this moose?!" LOL!

I remember when I was a kid that my cousin really liked this actor. So I am sad to see him go, because I know he made people happy, including my cousin.

:Q 🙁 Anyone seen the movie "The Santa Claus"? Not the Tim Allen one... the one from the early 90's where he played the elf, Patch? He's great in it 🙂

Ahhh, Plainfield is the next town from me.:Q In fact, my phone number is in a Plainfield exchange. I had no idea I lived that close to the actor. Good job on the media's part that his last days were in peace.

Sad to lose his comic abilities...

I think this is one of those "Its a good thing". He was on 20/20 (I think) and he was miserable. His brain disease had taken away his ability to talk clearly, take care of his personal needs (bathroom etc...) and play piano (his personal passion) and he was truly miserable in the interview. His best friend was a married woman who spent the majority of her time with him taking care of him. He was damn near broke if not broke already.

I will miss him.

I love Milo and Otis...

In the past few years, Moore did some wonderful narration. I think it was his best work.

RIP!
