Not to be rude, but buying flashy crap like rims invites that. I would have floored that mofo, but then again 1987 Toyotas aren't exactly car jacking material so it's never happened to me. 😀

Sad but true. If you dont want people to steal stuff, do not give them a reason to. People suck.

yes, i agree w/this 100%
taht's why my cool car is super stock!!

I'd be willing to bet, he would have never fired that gun if she floored it. He's by himself in a parking lot of a restaurant. I dont think he would want that attention, unless he can make a quick getaway in his own car.

Plus being charged with murder and being charged with robbery..... not likely that he would take the risk of having blood all over the car, having to move the body out of the car, while not attracting attention etc etc.

Under this sccenario:

1) If the restaurant was a popular place with a high chance of people being it it or around it, I would, duck my head, shift and floor it.

2) If the restaurant is out in the boonies, middle of nowhere, hand the keys over.

Then again, actually being in the situation and dealing with panic, is different from talking about it afterwards, but hey atleast I thought out what I could do if that situation ever arose in the future.

Well, I'm willing to bet that you would have exited the car ASAP just like most everyone else would have.

Chances are the guy wouldnt kill you for some "Shizzy" rims and face 1st degree murder.

Open the window and thump the guy.

Of course this only works if you arent frail and whatnot.

In those types of situations, you have to remember the person doing the carjacking could also be nervous or under a lot of stress ... He is not going to be thinking of whether he wants to be charged with murder or not. He's going to be thinking that he threatened to shoot and since you didn't listen, there's a potential there for him to shoot ... Or more likely, he's not going to be thinking at all, and just acting in the moment ... which puts you at an even higher risk of being shot.

In the end, its a hell of a lot better to get out of the car and away with your life than to try to get away and bank on the potential that he's not gonna shoot. Even if there's a 10% chance of getting killed, would you want to risk it?

Glad to hear she's ok!

That happened to my dad years ago while he was waiting to pick up a friend at the Amtrak station in Miami. He's sitting in my mom's van (she wasn't with him) and a guy makes his way over and flashes a .22 or something else pissy at him. Dad reciprocates by pointing a Ruger .357 Blackhawk at him through the window and tries his best to remain impassive. Few seconds go by, and the guy turns around and just walks away. Dad later confessed he almost threw up all over my mom's ride, and for the next week or so he was the nicest guy in the world.

Girls need to be more aware of their surrondings! It seems like I'm always scolding my gf for not noticing people around her. not just what/who they are, but what direction their moving and what they're looking at. I'm not saying your friend should have resisted, but if I was chilling in a nice car and saw some shady guy making a beeline for me with one of his hands purposefully obscured, best believe I'd drop that clutch faster than an ant-ridden Twinkie!

Glad to hear she's OK at least. Hopefully her insurance will take care of it if the cops don't find the car before it gets stripped down. 🙁

As for the dumbass comments so far, WTF is your problem? Grow up.

at least she physically ok, highly doubt shes to great emotionally. thats why i'm scared to get a nice car. for reasons of that happening and just flat getting broken into, vandalized ect.. people are jerks. someone keyed my 1987 Ford ranger for crying out loud

i would probably give him the keys, if hed let me keep my stuff.

Actually id be happy to give him the keys, id get more from my insurance than i could sell the car for 🙂

On the other hand theres nothign stoping you from taking off like crazy ....

Real nice.........Asshole!!!! :|

She did the right thing. No sense in losing her life over a car, cell phone, etc. That can be replaced. Make sure she cancels her credit cards and notifies her bank if he got her checkbook.

In this case, I'd roll down the window and spray half the bottle in the fvcker's face ... I'd then gun it and get the hell outta there ...

That's easy to say when you're not setting there with a gun in your face. I don't think anyone really knows what they would do in that situation until confronted with it. Hopefully none of us will ever get to experience this.

Near LA. Not the best neighborhood me thinks.

nope.. not that great of a city...

i live in cerritos, which isnt too far

When is your city's wireless internet suppose to be active? Cerritos is a decent area to live in, especially compared to Hawaiian Gardens.

I only have comprehensive coverage on my car. Does it cover robbery? I just went with the cheapest insurance I could find, and drive extra safely.
