That blows.

The internet at our dorms is pretty flaky 🙁 Constantly going down anywhere from 5 minutes to overnight 🙁

god damn that worm! It overloads the switches and freezes them up. I hate stupid people.

That's what you get for waiting till the last minute. You lazy bastards, when I went to college we didn't have schedules available online, you got the schedule printed out when you registered at the registrar's office.

Sorry, but why is waiting until the very last minute the schools fault?

Wait, when did a wait until the last minute?!?! I registered and all of my records have been online (although I've never tried to access the website during the server's offtime). It's only natural to assume that they can be accessed at any time.

First day of classes, always chaos.

Let's hope you're better prepared next time.

Illinois does the same thing with the scheduling servers. I think it's so they always have someone there incase it gets hacked.

acually, i've heard that uiuc does it because uidirect is some old pos that uses tape to back it up and the tape machines can't be run 24 hrs a day. I could be entirely wrong too. 😛

Is that what is going on? It's been dead like 10 times today already.

Oh, that's very possible. It's completely text based and a PITA to work with. Thank god they're working on getting a new system put in place.

UI Direct also has a very small number of users that it can handle, and it completely full during class registration time. Most people can't register when they're supposed to because the server is full. Now how hard can it be for a server to modify a few text fields?

Yeah, but he has the added bonus of not going to that school up north. The one that lost to the National Champions in November last year. 😛

ZV

pwned!

<== Buckeye 😀

it sucks that your school does that :/

but you're better off printing a transcript the first day of school anyway. I've had a few classes being changed on the first day of school and i didn't notice since i printed it a couple of days before

I guess I am lucky, school resources are always availible at UW-Madison unless there is an outage. I would say just wake up 15 minutes early, print it off, and fuhgetaboutit.
