Well I?m going to work for Dell on the 24th doing tech support.
I?m very excited it will be the first non construction job I have ever had.:D

Lots of big changes going on for the wife and I. I have gone back to school, moved from the Bay Area CA leaving behind my very profitable painting company to try to get into IT.

Its going be strange going from the top of one profession to the bottom of another, but I look forward to it.
:D

Congratulations!!!!! Sounds like a great opportunity.

Be sure to kick those intern's asses if you see them. They annoy the hell out of me.;)

Very Exciting,

Congrats and good luck!

What prompted the career change from a profitable job?

Just shout "I'M FROM ATOT" if I start getting mad at you for not knowing anything.

I'll politely laugh, we'll have a nice little chat, and I'll buy a gateway or something.

Haha, I've always wanted to do tech support just to see what it's like. I want to see why people get burned out so easily!

Then again, maybe not. I think I'll stick with DPS.

Someone gave me a very old computer 3 years ago and that was the beginning of the end for painting.

We both decided that $ money was not everything, we wanted to start a family and leave the fast pace of the Bay Area.

BTW I have breathed enough paint fumes to last a lifetime, there are lots of exposure to Carcinogens in the painting.

Look above. and I love computers.

For some reason, I thought all Dell CSR's were in India.
Anyways, congrats. And if those interns turn the lights out on you, you can kick their butt for me ;)

That's very respectable Renob! Courageous. I switched from Production management to IT 3 years ago for similar reasons but my decision came after dealing with a couple lay-offs. Glad you're in a better position to give it a go!
It's a tough road to haul as many here will likely ask why you're getting into IT with the job market the way it is, but it's the people who are passionate about their work who make it work. I'm now the System's Administrator for my company. I hope your experience presents you as many opportunities as mine has. GOOD LUCK!

I worked for an outsource company doin' technical support for Dell. They like train you for 4 weeks or whatever, quite possibly the worst job i ever had. I ended up quitting 2 months later. Made me realize how much you can hate a job. I hope your jobs better than how mine turned out.

You know what they say, find what you love, and then find out how to make money at it. Working lame jobs solely for money's sake is no fun, so congrats :)
