duct tape and computers ....ok to use?

I've done it before with no problems.

I think the only down side is that if and when you take it off, the wires may be a bit gooey from the tape.
 
No problem either. Duct tape tends to get messy after a while though, so I normally use electrical tape.
 
Duct tape (the non-metallic, standard gray stuff) is safe but black electrical tape can leave goo when you take it off too - I use dabs of LOW-temp (do NOT use HIGH-temp as that will melt insulation) hot glue to tack wires down. Peels right off with no residue.
