dual video cards in Asus P5W

I've just discovered this thread, and I'm sorry to say that the P5W DH does *not* appear to work with multiple graphics cards in a non-crossfire environment.

Over the last few days I've tried the following card combinations:
X1900 + X300 (PCIe+PCIe)
X1900 + 9250 (PCIe+PCI)
7600 + 6800 (PCIe+PCIe)
7600 + X300 (PCIe+PCIe)
6800 + 9250 (PCIe+PCI)

None of 'em appear to work. Running any of the above cards by themselves works perfectly every time. By "not working" I mean either the OS locks solid during bootup or spontaneously restarts during the boot procedure.

Could anyone out there with a P5W DH and 2 graphics cards (any sort) give it a try and post back your results? I wonder if I might have a semi-defective board. I am using BIOS 1305 if it helps...

Is there a bios option for running multiple graphics cards? The manual shows dual graphics, non-Crossfire, as supported.

Not that I've seen. There are a few options that relate to the PCIe bus (things like "slot power") which I'll try upping later, but it doesn't really explain why the thing won't even work with a PCIe + standard PCI graphics card.

Thanks for the update. Were you able to test it with two identical PCIe cards? Perhaps having two different cards is the problem.

Sorry about that. This was my first topic here and I guess I didn't scroll down far enough to see the video forum.

How about just putting in a 7950GX2?

I have your motherboard and am using an EVGA 7950GX2 and it works beautifully. That way you don't have to worry about lack of SLI driver support on the 975x platform (since you'd only be using a single PCI-Express slot).
