dual screens

Ok, gotta type fast, 4 min till my math lecture (gotta love a WiFi-ed campus)

I'm building a desktop and want dual screens... specifically, I built a 4" picture frame monitor that runs (300 something by 200 something).. in addition to my 17" Dell

I've an AGP Geforce 2 GTS (supports dual monitors)
and I've got a PCI ATI Rage II card

(yes, I know they both suck but I'm a broke college student)

would it be better to run both screens on the GTS or run the small on the PCI card?

i don't think the GF2 supports dual monitors the way you think. it supports dual ouputs, ie monitor and TVout. it doesn't support seperate outputs and seperate resolutions for each ouput.(i'm pretty sure on this, please correct me otherwise)

damn, guess not... i looked it up... i was looking for TwinView but that was only offered on the Geforce 2 MX (go figure, i got the better card and don't get the feature)... i'm emailing leadtek anyway to double check

FYI you won't be able to run a resolution smaller than 640x480 in Windows.

Correct, but I highly doubt the picture frame would be his main monitor so it won't matter as much. He'll still have some window space, albeit small.

What are you planning on using the second monitor for?

winamp mainly, maybe an AIM window, (and a screen saver that cycles through pics of my gf 🙂)...

and the connection to the picture frame window is composite (RCA), so it does the resizing itself
