Just a quick post to let you all know my results.

I have a A8N-SLI board running a 6800GT, an AMD 64 3200, 2x512mb OCZ PC4400, 2 optical drives, 1 floppy, 2 raptors, and one Maxtor diamond max 10.

I originally had the Antec Neopower 480 and was having no luck on a decent overclock. I managed to get Antec to replace it after complaining, for a Truepower 550 which has been recomended on this forum as its a Single rail with 30amps on the 12v rail.

Tried to overclock with both PSU's and the results were exactly the same. Also same stability as far as I can see. The only difference was that the Truepower 550 is quieter but the cables are messier that the Neopowers detachable ones.

FYI the max CPU overclock is 2400mhz. Max ram at 1T= 235mhz. Max HTT is 355mhz x 3.

Yes the Truepower can be quieter than the Neopower. The Neopower is not that efficient when drawing 150w or less, so the fan needs to spin faster to cool

The Truepower is more efficient at 150W so it's fans can spin slower.

You are likely only drawing 120w-150w at idle with that system.

Get KILL-A-WATT meter (+/- $25) and you will know for sure what your current draw is, you will be surprises how little a PC actually draws and what makes the power usage jump
