the OS can offload processes to each processor making multitasking much more efficient. Hyperthreading sort of does this to a degree. Two processors won't make a game or single application faster though, I don't think.

Some apps like Photoshop and Max run alot better with dual processors. I doubt any games support dual processing though, so the extra processor would be a little useless for just gaming.
