OK, I get it.

The SuperMicro Mobile Rack looks good.

Is this 68 PIN then?

I can't tell from the page or product manual.

I sent an email to their tech support, so hopefully they'll get back to me.

Basically, I don't actually need a mobile rack now, I just need to know if I get one in the future, if it will be compatible with the 68 PIN drive I am buying now. If it will not be compatible, then I might need to buy the mobile rack now and an 80 PIN drive.

Thanks again for all of your help.

My question now, is The Fujitsu MAU or the Maxtor Atlas 15K II.

The fujitsu is $50 cheaper.

They're both great drives. I believe the MAU is superior from my experience. You cannot go wrong with either one.

sharkeeper,

Any particular reason why the MAU gets the nod?

Thanks for the input.

EDIT:

Posted before the "knows his shit" comment showed up.

OK, OK, I trust you, will save the $ and get the Fujitsu. Thanks!

necine,

What limits do you play? Do you multitable? How many tables?

If you want to play recreationally, do some bonus clearing.

You can get $340 in reoccurring bonuses every month plus all the one time bonuses out there.

http://www.rakereimbursement.com/gettingstarted.htm

Check out that guide, basically walks you through how to clear all the Cryptologic bonuses. They occur every month, so it?s an extra $340 in your bankroll. They clear at about $10 per hour per table, so if you multi-table the clear rate isn?t bad at all.

I hear Stars is a bit tight, hence I don't play there. I'm a bit of a low limit pro; I don't make any effort to beat tough games, just lots of easy games simultaneously. I?ve never played at PokerRoom.com.

Party Poker can be good if you play at the right times and exercise good game selection. Don?t play bad games. Keep bouncing tables to stay where the bad players are.

Also, if you are going to play regularly for any length of time, make sure you get a rakeback deal. Basically, you sign up through an affiliate that shares the affiliate revenue with you, so you get back between 20% and 30% of the profit the poker room is making off you. This is a big deal. I will get a $900 payment this month just for rakeback, It?s like a bonus, on top of my regular earn.

I use raketracker.com for party and it's skins. They are very good and give good rates. The rakereimbursement site is mine, but I only do Crypto. I was going to do party, but I coudn't find any affiliate rates that were as good as what raketracker gives out. Hence, I wouldn't want to do a rakeback program if I couldn't honestly recommend it to my friends as having the best rate.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck to you!
(unless you?re at my table)

Sure thing!

A shiny new Canon SD300.

I'll whip something up once I order and onward.

Look for updates!

Oh, hey,

I hate to keep doing this, but . . .

Why the 510 AG power supply?

Why the 24-pin, 8-pin, 6-pin?

Why not the 510 SLI?

It says SLI, is it lacking in something?

Thanks again!

Thanks so much!

I just transferred 3K from my bankroll to my bank account and I'm just tying up the last loose ends before I place the order . . .

The mother board takes SSI ETX (24+8) + WS (6) power. All the SLi connectors do its provide 12v, which can be done easily by the molex's anyway. If you want a cross between the two you can call them about customizing. If you want the 'deluxe'ness the the 510 SLI is to desktops but for your workstation/server class machine, you could call about one of these:
http://pcpowercooling.com/about/whatnew_850_ETX.htm

You can also call and ask for a 510 SLI with the 24+8+6 connectors like on the 510 AG because you have a Tyan K8WE.

If you look here, you see that the K8W (K8WE uses the same 24+8+6) has the 510 AG listed
http://pcpowercooling.com/products/power_supplies/dual_cpu_selector/index.htm
same here
http://tyan.com/support/html/r_s2885.html

I have a 510 SLI+AG myself. :) I'm gonna get a Turbo-Cool 850 ETX though. :p

OK then.

Here is a tentative summary of my impending purchase:

$118.99 - Enlight EN-8950
http://us.enlightcorp.com/products/server/detel.php?kind=servercases&serial=23
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?s...55094&Type=PE&Category=Comp&dcaid=1688

$200 - PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 AG
http://pcpowercooling.com/products/powe...formance/turbocools/index_hp_atx-2.htm

$580 - Tyan Thunder K8WE S2895UA2NRF
http://tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we.html
http://www.8anet.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=2416&lastcatid=5&step=4

2x$234 - AMD Opteron 244 Retail
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_8796,00.html
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80304-R

2x $339 - Corsair TwinX1024RE-3200LL (2 X CMX512RE-3200LL )
http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/xms.html
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=140459

Since it is matched (and cheaper, ever so slightly), I went with the twin matched version of the memory ribbon13 recommended. Same DIMMS, just matched in pairs. Also, Monarch?s price was good and no tax.

$238 ? Fujitsu 36 GB 15,000RPM Ultra SCSI320 68pin OEM
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-116-149&depa=0

2x $179 - XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=190439

Went with the XFX as it has dual DVI connectors per card

$60.99 - NEC 3520a
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-152-035&depa=0

$8 - NEC FD1231H-302
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=21-152-005&depa=0

$134.99 Windows XP Pro OEM
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=604631

$2843.97 + s/h & tax

I went with the cheapest prices, obviously. However, when the price was close, Monarch Computers took precedence over Newegg and ZipZoomFly as I am in California and Monarch is the only business which is not (no tax).

I am only waiting on confirmation that the mobile rack that goes with the Enlight case is 68 PIN SCSI. I am not buying the mobile rack now, but I need to make sure the drive I purchase now will be compatible with it.

Also, I need to investigate the PSU a bit more (Thanks ribbon13 for the additional information).

Other than that, this looks to be it, for the most part.

I like the amatteroffax price, thanks!

That also saves me $40 in tax as they are in NJ.

Very nice!

Thanks for the link.

I'm getting excited about putting the whole thing together. I hate having to only play six tables at a time, so the sooner the better.

I turned PM on now, BTW. I hadn't ever changed the default account settings previously.

Well, I don't know much about rake reimbursement. I started playing poker when I was 11, I'm 19 now and live iright next to Atlantic City. I go to casinos alot, sometimes they let me play sometimes they dont. I have a win/lose ratio of 3:1 at the casinos. I keep good statistics in notepad on my computer, however I am going to make a PHP script to record my earnings/loses, and I want to get into online poker because i figure that I am already good enough to crack the game, online has to be similar. Perhaps I'll e-mail you with some questions about your site.

About the custom power supply,

The 510 SLI has:

20/24-pin, P4. dual 6-pin video

So I need one with 24 Pin + 8 Pin + the dual pins the SLI already has?

I talked to James over there and I got a little flustered at this point.

So, instead of the 20/24 pin, I just need a 24 pin, I need an additional 8 pin, and the Dual 6 pins the SLI already has, is this correct?

Thanks!

You need the motherboard pin layout of the 510 AG on the 510 SLI. The 6-pin PCIe and the 6-pin WS connectors provide different voltages, and confusing them would cause heartbreak.

Edit: Concision.
