Dual Processor Question

I have two p3 cpu's laying around...one 900mhz and one 533mhz. I know absolutely jack about dual processor motherboards, so i was wondering, when using that kind of a setup, do the 2 processors being used have to be identical? does it depend on the board? is the speed of the pc really comparable to the sum of the two clockspeeds? thanks!

For a P3 they absolutely must run at the same clockspeed. Also performance will never be doubled, and depends greatly on the OS and application used.
