Dual Processor nForceFX Chipset @ [H]

I hope this is for real. Yeah I saw this over at Hard ocp a couple hours ago. If this chipset does materialize I am really going to look forward to buying it.

I would very much like to have that board. Now they just gotta make the thing and price it nicely and I'll break out the checkbook.

Looks to take either unbuffered or registered, right? A big plus for many hobbyists.

From ASUS website

"BlueMagic PCI Slot
works as a normal PCI slot but with the capability to accommodate ASUS? SpaceLink B&W, the world?s
first WLAN add-on card supporting 802.11a, 802.11b and Bluetooth, for easy wireless networking and
more.'

*This is mechBgon's home computer... can someone come over and see if he has a Reset button? He's sort of staring into space and drooling... I've tried shocking him a little, but I don't have nearly enough voltage on the keyboard and mouse connectors to get through the insulation 😛 TIA... *

In addition to the ATX plug, there's 2 more +5/+12 volt plugs? Yikes... :Q

Does this NForceFX board represent "built-in-graphics" (based on) the FX gpu? Or is "FX" just NVidia's new FAD word they like using?

I DO like the 4 DIMM slots... get to run 4 dimms @128bit. Sweet! 😀 It'll make 2GB-128bit ram affordable now (4@512MB sticks, instead of 2@1GB sticks... That's expensive!)

If this thing is for real...

:Q

I ditched my Tiger MP/1800+ combo because of poor memory & AGP performance.

If we can get a good DC-DDR chipset for dual Socket A I will GLADLY ditch my P4 system & build another AMD.

I have a 550W P/S left over from my Tiger days, just give me the board.

😀

Seems awfully late in the game to be bringing something like this to market. The Barton MP is practically dead before it even hits the market. How many more speed grades is AMD going to be able to squeeze out of it? Accoring to their roadmap, it's dead by the end of the year with an as market warrants for the 1st half of next year. And how many would they really want to release when its replacement the Opteron is so close to release. I'll believe this when I see actual boards for review. Based on NVidia's stellar on time release schedule as of late (NForce1/2,GFX), if this product isn't even announced yet, it won't make it out until after the Barton is gone.

True why would they bother with a Baton MP when they've got Opteron out in a few wks and Clawhammer out in a few months. (Though I suppose you could say the same for Barton itself).
