Dual OS

How do you build a system with a dual OS? I have Windows XP Pro, and I want to make my system a dual OS because I have lots of software that requires an older OS. I want the system to be XP Pro, and Windows 95. I have a P4 3.2 Gh, and a Gigabyte 8KNXP mobo. Thanks!

Install first the Win95. After you have that running, just stick in the XP installation CD. It will ask you if you want to update the OS/ make a fresh installation over the old one/ make a dual boot installation.

Just choose to install them side by side (dual boot), follow instructions... enjoy.

Oh yeah, prolly a good question to post on the software forum...

Thanks for the info. What if you have XP Pro installed already? Do you have to uninstall it first? Also, how do you uninstall XP Pro? Do you need to reformat the drives and stuff after you uninstall it? Thanks!

Don't do anything yet!

If you want to dual-boot the Microsoft Way ...

AS LONG AS YOUR C: VOLUME IS **NOT** FORMATTED AS NTFS, use this:

Keep in mind that Windows 95 requires C: to be FAT (maybe FAT32, if using Win95C).

Other tools like BootMagic (included with PartitionMagic), System Commander, XOSL, etc. will work even if C: is currently NTFS.
