Dual monitors with linux?

So Im completely new to linux, Ive read the linux sticky and searched around here but didnt find anything. How can I do a dual monitor setup with ubuntu? I have a 7900gt with a 2405fpw and an L90D+. In windows I was extending the desktop with ultramon. Will ultramon work in linux with something like WINE, or is there a better program for linux that I should use? Im looking to extend the desktop, not stretch or mirror the image. Thanks.

Once you get relatively recent propriatory nvidia drivers installed you can use the nvidia-settings program to set them to run dual monitors in a veriaty of ways.

I don't know what version Ubuntu has in it's repositories though.

Worst case is that you'd have to edit the xorg.conf file manually and set it up for 'twinview' mode. Other types of cards can do it also, but will do it differently.

Thanks guys.

postmortem, that link looks like it should help. Once I get my linux setup with all the drivers and everything I should be able to figure this out.
