I have a Geforce4 Mx 440 64mb pci card which has a rca/video out, a vga out, and an s-video out. I am trying to add a second monitor to my system but I am finding some trouble doing so with my video card. I bought a conversion cable that supposidly converts rca video out into vga. This unfortunately did not work. I don't know if the wiring was not right or if it was just a spoof cable and was never meant to work for the purpose that I needed in the first place. If anyone has any experience or thoughts as to how I would be able to create a dual monitor environment while keeping my current video card it would be greatly appreciated.

IIRC, RCA to VGA cables are meant for hooking up component video sources like a progressive scan dvd player to a plasma screen TV. I'm guessing that for the price you paid for that cable you could have bought a new GeForce 4 MX440 card with dual VGA outs.
