Dual monitors in Linux (XFree 4)

I was wondering if anyone has gotten 2 monitors to work in Linux(specifically Mandrake 7.2)? I have it set up in Win2k and I love it. Is it worth the time to do it in Linux? Or is it relatively painless? I have been using Linux for about 6 months now and if I could get this to work it could possiblly become my primary OS.

Been there, dont that, got the t-shirt

I haven't gotten it fully working with gdm/kdm/xdm in LM7.2. Where is the config file for kdm anyway? If I just do a 'telinit 3' and then 'startx', I'll get both displays. But using graphical login, I only get the grey mesh on the second display. The mouse will float over that display just fine, but everything else is confined to the first display.
