i just setup dual monitors and it works great in windows, however games...not perfect...moh spearhead doesn't even start with dual monitors giving some error..but the splinter cell demo works...it may have bigger black bars on the side than usual but the game starts and stays on one monitor like i want...how can i fix this problem with certain games and game normally with dual monitors?

I have a dual monitor setup also, and I run into problems with different games. Sometimes, they simply mirror the image on the 2nd monitor (which is easy to fix by just shutting one monitor off). and other times they just run into display problems:

1- such as trying to display the game over both screens (so its split in the middle)
2- not even loading at all.
3- A few games such as serious sam, actually support 2 monitors :D

The "easy" and common solution to this is just disable one of the monitors or mirror them, and then play the game. And then go back to dual display. Its a pain, but its the easiest solution I know so far.

Maybe someone else has a better idea?
(btw I'm using a radeon 8500)

ok thanks man, splinter cell demo works fine...however spearhead like you said trys to split it and won't load, its ok, ill just quick disable...its worth the few clicks to shut off for certain games because dual monitors are amazing in windows, such a nice feature...put all my junk on the 2nd monitor and keep my main one clutter free and if anyone has a better solution let us know..maybe some program??

Dual monitors here, and same problem. Its my opinion that the game has to be designed to use them, so hopefully game developers will pick up this thread and add some code to make it all good. Let me know if you do find a work around.

Any developers care to chime in ?

ok guys update, everyone with dual monitors get this now...its called ultramon and it can be found at the link below...it puts a little icon in system tray and one half a sec click and it disables 2nd monitor and puts everything to main monitor and corrects the gaming problems since it disables 2nd one..then when you enable 2nd monitor after gaming it puts back icons and windows to 2nd monitor like you had them...it also can mirror the 1st monitor to 2nd and use screensavers and wallpaper across 2 monitors...awesome!!! MUCH easier then right clicking on desktop and so on to disable 2nd monitor, also puts 2 buttons at the top of your windows to spread windows across the 2 monitors and also one button to instantly move a whole window from one monitor to the other... you can even make a hotkey so for example i made mine f1, i hit f1 and it disables 2nd monitor for gaming...SO EASYYY compared to disabling through windows

Been running Ultramon for months now, great program!

I have no problems with games UNLESS they do not have a 1280X1024 resolution ( LCD ). The game will load but minimize to desktop, have to close ultramon and restore the game. But if the game will run at 1280X1024 there are no problems.
