also my second monitor is like super old and is a very dark display like half as bright as my 700nf what ways can i brighten it w/ distorting all of the colors? is there another progam for this? I have already used the OSD and brightness and contrast are all the way up

With the default system in Windows for dual monitors, when you open an application and move it, it will always open on the last screen you had it open on. So you just drag the program to the second screen, and from then on it will open there by default.

The nView drivers that come with nvidia's Detonator drivers also have functionality to allow you to force certain things to open on a certain display, such as dialog boxes.

Nothing I know of that can allow you to control the brightness of only one display's image without affecting the other, and even then, I'm not sure you can make it "brighter" than the amount the monitor can physically do; it'd just wash out the colors or make it more monochrome.

17 inch monitors are pretty cheap, good for a second display. Can get them for like 90 bucks after rebates at CompUSA some weeks.

Some folks swear by UltraMon, but I've gotten all of the functionality I've needed for two displays from Windows natively or TwinView/nView from nVidia's drivers.

I use nView/TwinView too from nVidia to do the window placement stuff. It does all I need it to do without needing more software installed.

Lord Evermore's right, go buy another new monitor. There isn't anything you can do for an old monitor that is dull except maybe clean the screen.
